THE MISSION OF THE Literacy Council of LaPorte County IS TO COLLABORATIVELY ENRICH THE COMMUNITY, HELPING ALL CITIZENS ACHIEVE THEIR FULL POTENTIAL THROUGH LITERACY BY PURSUING THE COUNCIL’S PRIMARY GOALS:

The Primary Goals for the Literacy Council are, in priority order:

·        Identify all literacy providers in LaPorte County

·        Locate gaps in literacy services

·        Create a referral system for literacy programming

·        Develop a toll free phone number for persons to access literacy information

·        Develop a literacy marketing campaign using methods such as brochures, radio and word of mouth to inform the public

 ·        Create a volunteer recruitment and training program to service existing programs
